I guess I'll get this started... with a partial suggested introduction 
welcome text:

Welcome to the Media Giraffe Project discussion forum!  This list goes 
to all conference attendees and should be for general discussion only.

[if you would like a discussion list for continued in-depth discussion 
of a topic begun at the conference, we can set up a forum and list for 
yourself and others who are interested]

the 2006 Media Giraffe Project Conference to allow attendees to continue
