This is the economic force driving the One Laptop per Child program ( 
http://laptop.org/ ) - that it's cheaper to put a durable, low-power 
laptop into the hands of third-world children than it is to buy all the 
textbooks they'll need to get through school.

Note that this is not a single-purpose "reader" but a real computer that 
can do "cloud" networking -- another cool feature for people in areas 
where net connectivity is not common.

I will get and review one of these before long.
