Steven, looks like a very interesting project, and I'm happy it is non-profit.
I would not consider participatory media only journalism or news. I
would certainly consider myspace participatory media, but hardly
journalism or news.
Here is the defination I currently use:
Media production where a citizen, or group of citizens, play an
active role in the process of collecting, reporting, analyzing and
disseminating news and information
So by "information" we could mean any kind of communication.
Anyway, seems like a good project,
