Hi all, I just wanted to let everyone know that FreeSpeechTV has
launched a non-profit myspace style online community. See it here:
http://community.freespeech.org

-this is important since it provides a non-commercial alternative to
Fox/Myspace, google, yahoo etc... The corporate social networking
communities for the most part invade your privacy, and slam ads in
your face at every turn. I've transfered my main blog to the FSTV
platform, and I've suggested to students and everyone else who uses
one of the corporate platforms, make the switch.

Quoting myself from an upcoming article on web 2.0 and independent media...

"On the FreeSpeech TV community members can do most of the things one
can do on Myspace; post videos, post blogs, upload pictures, join and
create groups, create networks of “buddies” (called friends on
myspace.com). One interesting feature is that once logged in, users
automatically see their “buddies” recent content. This is a great tool
for keeping up to date on your favorite bloggers, or just to keep tabs
on what your “buddies” are up to. FreeSpeech TV is also launching a
V-Log platform where selected V-logs (citizen video reports) will be
broadcast on the FSTV Television station; a satellite and public
access TV station reaching 25 million homes."

The site needs more functionality, but in the past few weeks I've
already seen progress in adding new features. There is the
possibility that in the future, websites will be able to link into
this community and offer their audience the same features/login. This
is something COA News and FSTV are working on right now. The site use
Drupal software.
